Sculpture & Decorative Arts

For the frame of this piece, I repurposed an old table from a neighbor’s house. Decades ago, it began as part of a dining set before finding its way to a dusty Brooklyn basement to serve as a work bench. Once I realized what was under the layers of grime, I decided it would make a beautiful frame for a mirror.

Pine is often utilitarian; it becomes pallets, two by fours, or shipping crates. Many of the pieces of this sculpture are the offcuts left from producing sturdy boxes for artwork. It seemed appropriate that they be used for a related purpose.

I built the frame for this mirror from strips of marine grade Fir plywood turned to reveal their edges.
